About Me

I am a freelance editor and proofreader of fiction works and scientific non-fiction books and papers. I have a background in science, with a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary biology, and experience of writing technical documentation for software, both aimed at developers and end-users.

I can check your texts to ensure that they are appropriate for your intended audience, offer suggestions to improve clarity and spot where a plot-point has gone slightly off course! As well as editing, I also write children’s fiction.

Services

I offer both editing and proofreading services. Proofreading includes checking your spelling and grammar, and ensuring that the work is readable and understandable. Editing services are more detailed than proofreading, I will also ensure that the text flows well, identify plot-holes and offer suggestions for reworking passages or sections.

For the editing of scientific papers, I will ensure the consistency of terminology and ensure that your results and conclusions are presented clearly and understandably. Contact me to get a quote. I offer both hourly rates or set-fees for specific briefs.
